1:4:2 Pranayama is an advanced breathing technology that focuses on deep breathing and extended periods of breath retention (kumbhaka) while concentrating the breath energy into the spine. This advanced technology can be explored using alternate nostril breathing (anuloma viloma or nadi shodhana), breathing through one nostril (surya), or through both nostrils.

The main pranayama cycle on this recording is 6 seconds on inhale (puraka), 24 seconds of retaining (kumbhaka) and 12 seconds of exhale (rechaka). This is cycled with some other deep breathing but if 36 seconds without new breath is intimidating to you it may be a good idea to explore the other two pranayama recordings until your energy body is more purified.

Keep in mind that you should work your way to longer sessions as it can cause some strong purifications. Consult your doctor if you have high blood pressure, heart issues, breathing issues or any other health concern that might be affected by extended periods of exertion.

You may also wish to silently intone "AUM" during the retentions.

To get the most out of this breath work make sure that every breath fills your entire lung capacity.
